Conference on Space Law, organized by SPARC – Space Law Research Center took place at Nova University, between 25 September and 3 October.
Relevant matters as International Space Law; Definition of Space and Space Law; Militarization of Outer Space; International Responsibility and Liability in Outer Space; Space Economy; National Space Legislations; Use of Outer Space for peaceful purposes; and Future Challenges of Space Law and Policy were in discussion.
MGRA presented its contribution with our lawyer Paula Castro Silveira lecturing about “Space Activities and International Environmental Law”.
It is increasingly important to study and understand the issue of environmental protection within the existing international regulatory framework for space activities as, for many years, space exploration was developed without concern for the inherent environmental risks. Therefore, the increasing pollution in earth orbit endangers the sustainability of space activities considered crucial for modern society.
